We’ve had a busy start to 2020! And that’s not just on the business side. Saying “Thank you” to our wonderful employees and their families has become a monthly rhythm that we have not only looked forward to, but also fully embraced as part of our culture and what makes Blue Margin an amazing place to work. In January, we got our families together for pizza and unlimited games at the Loveland Laser Tag. It was a fun night! There were lots of victories and of course, grueling losses in the laser games, bumper cars, and air hockey. The kids stayed up too late (so sorry to the teachers!) and didn’t want to leave. And the big kids? Well, let’s just say that I was sore everywhere from the laser tag, the ropes course, and the 30-minute video game of shooting aliens holding a heavy, plastic shotgun.
We have had an adventurous fall season here at Blue Margin! September’s Employee Appreciation Event was at Whetstone Climbing Facility. We had a brief introduction and learned a little bit about the climbing facility, bouldering, and belaying. For this first-time climber, I was intrigued and excited!
Every month, the executive team at Blue Margin hosts an Employee Appreciation event. It’s a way of saying thank you to our employees for their hard work and dedication. So far this year, we rented Pinball Jones for beers and pinball, went to Moot House for a couples’ evening of drinks and appetizers, perfected our bowling skills, rented a food truck, celebrated at our company picnic, and even ran a 5K (well, some of us did).
At Blue Margin, we are actively creating a culture that defies the typical American employee experience: the 8-to-5 grind, the micromanaging boss, the soul-sucking annual performance review, the <describe misery here>.
We’ve worked in those environments. Frankly, we hated it. And we want something different for our team.
It’s summertime, and for Blue Margin families that means school’s out and we get to enjoy a favorite summer family event – renting out Loveland Laser Tag!
You may recall we first held this inaugural event last year with the promise of hosting it again – partly because we all enjoyed it and partly because the kids wanted a rematch with their parents on all-things-gaming.
We knew this would be a fun outing. What we didn't realize was it included unlimited arcade games, a dream since childhood (at least for anyone who ever longed to own their own Asteroids or Pac-Man console). The unlimited laser tag, bumper cars and pizza didn't hurt either.
Want a team building experience? There's no better way to bond with your office-mates than holding each other’s lives in your very hands!
Recently, the Blue Margin team experienced a bit of that bonding at "Rock It with Blue Margin", a rock-climbing event for team members and their families. After a long work day, we rendezvoud with our families at the office for dinner, and then headed to Inner Strength Rock Gym to climb.
