Job Description 

As a Data Engineering Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and consulting on innovative data solutions. Your primary responsibilities will be working closely with our clients to understand their business needs and data requirements that will inform the design and development of data solutions. You will also work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that data is collected, processed, and available for analytics and reporting. Responsibilities 

  • Work closely with client stakeholders and analytics consultants to gather and understand data requirements to provide innovative solutions. 
  • Design, implement and optimize dimensional data models from raw source data in SSMS and Visual Studio, ensuring data accuracy, efficiency, and integrity. 
  • Ensure solutions meet business requirements and industry practices. 
  • Support analytics consultants on modeling best practices. 
  • Understand and troubleshoot ETL processes. 
  • Partner with solutions team to identify areas of improvement and optimization of data platform. 
  • Adapt quickly to new technologies and tools, enabling you to make informed decisions for efficient data processing. 
  • Collaborate with customer success managers and participate in project planning and coordination. 
  • Maintain a high level of adherence to project timelines and deliverables, ensuring the timely completion of tasks. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field. 
  • 2+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar role. 
  • Proficient in T-SQL, experience in Python / PySpark is a plus. 
  • Fundamental database development experience  - understand SQL syntax, utilize correct joins, ability to write ad-hoc queries. 
  • Strong foundation of data modeling (Kimball modeling). 
  • Familiarity with the Azure Data stack, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, and Azure SQL Synapse Analytics. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into understandable terms. 
  • Adherence to established protocols and willingness to adapt and innovate within established guidelines. 
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently. 
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently. 
  • Relevant certifications in Azure or data engineering technologies are a plus.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements  

  • This position may require minimal physical effort including lifting materials and equipment of less than 10 pounds. This position requires viewing a computer screen more than 80 percent of the time. The job will take place in a normal office environment with controlled temperature and lighting conditions. This position may require some travel and occasional participation in off-site functions.  

 

Salary and Benefits   

  • The starting salary for a Level II position is between $75-$95K and is commensurate with experience and qualifications. 
  • The starting salary for a Level III position is between $85-$105K and is commensurate with experience and qualifications.    
  • Benefits include health, dental and vision insurance, short- and long-term disability, 401K matching, health club stipend, paid vacation, sick leave, and a bonus structure.
